Michael Blickensdorf
Executive Vice President

An active lieutenant for the Largo Police Department, Michael Blickensdorf serves his peers as the Executive Vice President to the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association.  He has served in that role since 2021.  As Executive Vice President, Mr. Blickensdorf’s scope of work is primarily focused on philanthropy fundraising and community engagement on behalf of our 501(c)(3), Sun Coast Law Enforcement Charities. Previously, Mr. Blickensdorf served as a PBA Director (rep) for his peers at the Largo Police Department from 2014 through 2017, and as Sun Coast PBA’s Executive Board Secretary from 2017 through 2021.

Mr. Blickensdorf comes from a law enforcement family.  He began his career at the Grand Blanc Township Police Department in Michigan in 2003, where he worked until he was hired by the Largo Police Department in 2006.  As an officer, Mr. Blickensdorf worked in patrol, as a hostage negotiator, as a field training officer, and in the agency’s problem oriented policing unit.  When he was promoted to sergeant in 2016, Mr. Blickensdorf rotated through supervisory positions as the sergeant over field training, the K-9 unit, and the traffic unit.  As a sergeant, he also served as a special incident response team leader.  Mr. Blickensdorf was promoted to lieutenant in 2022, where he currently serves in the community services division in charge of the traffic unit, the problem oriented policing unit, school resource officers, volunteers, and the citizen police academy.

Mr. Blickensdorf is the recipient of both a lifesaving medal and a distinguished service medal from the Largo Police Department.  He is proud of his work leading an internal team which designed and procured the agency’s new mobile command bus.  He is a graduate of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s four-week Leadership Academy and the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy Series, a three-week program.

When not working, Mr. Blickensdorf enjoys spending time with his wife and five sons.  In his free time, you can find him on the golf course, watching the Detroit Lions, or traveling to Michigan and Oklahoma to visit family. He is also very proud to serve as our resident Santa Claus for Sun Coast PBA holiday events.
